Loree’s formative years were divided between her native Houston and Southern California Coastline.
After graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in applied arts and sciences, she promptly embarked on a successful 12 year career in the education and library industry, promoting book and automation services throughout the western United States. Shortly after the birth of her son Tyler in 2003, Loree realized her ambition to become a small business owner, establishing and operating a wedding and event planning company in California prior to her 2006 return to the Houston area.
Her husband’s 2007 military mobilization to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM sparked the creation of her non-profit organization, Tillman Troops (www.tillmantroops.org). Her passion and commitment were instrumental in the development of highly successful partnerships, programs and initiatives benefiting both our warriors serving abroad, and veterans and military families on the home front. In addition to shipping thousands of care packages to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, fulfilled special troop requests, coordinated a soldier adoption program, numerous events recognizing returning veterans and their families and provided books and comfort items for wounded service members convalescing at Texas area military and Veterans Administration facilities.
Loree’s dedication has been acknowledged by receiving the 2010 Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service by Annise D. Parker, Mayor of the City of Houston and recognized by Volunteer Fort Bend and the County Judge Bob Herbert for her volunteer service that exemplifies good citizenship and improves the quality of life for all of Texas.
Loree was honored as 2010 Navy Military Spouse of the Year by Military Spouse Magazine and has recently accepted a volunteer position as National Program Director for the Blue Star Families Books On Bases Program. She is excited about developing the program along with bringing local Houston military families together through ongoing support via online, chapter meetings, events and social sites to make life easier for military families.
During these past few years, she has had the pleasure of meeting Oliver North, Toby Keith, Brigid Brannagh from Lifetime Army Wives, Navy Admirals, Members of Congress, Military Spouses from all over the country and has appeared on Television, (FOX, KHOU-Great Day Houston), Radio (740AM) and Local Newspapers, (The Conroe Currier, The Villager), Magazines (Military Spouse Magazine and ReviewIt Magazine) and more for her unwavering support.
Her current interests include volunteering at her son’s elementary school library and furthering her education in graphic arts and web design. She will continue her focus and energies on Tillman Troops and empowering military families by speaking out about the effects deployment has on family and children.
For more information about Tillman Troops, donations and volunteer opportunities can be found on the website at www.tillmantroops.org
Loree stated “Freedom isn’t free and we must do our part to support our local service members who give so much and put their lives on the line for us.”
